Software by William F. Hammmond
Since 1987 I have been interested in interested in facilitating the
use of networked computers as a tool for research in (pure)
mathematics.
One theme (that so far has not "caught on") is mathematical typewriter
emulation (MTE) as a means for the quick generation of informal
mathematical text (tests, email messages, ...). It is not intended as
a substitute for TeX, nor is it intended for research articles. I
have found that even with good TeX macros I can save time using MTE
for informal items. And it has the potential of becoming a special
dialect of XML hypertext.
I have written several small command line utility programs for text
handling that others sometimes find useful.
Mathematical programs
Some programs, mostly in specialized high-level languages, for
specifically mathematical tasks appear on other pages within this
archive.
