Welcome to the second page in a series featuring UAlbany Math Department members
and guests in a variety of graceful and/or disgraceful positions.
Here are some pictures of Marcus Catlin on "Trapped Like a Rat" in
the Gunks, taken in July 2001.
To quote Marcus, " every climb is a layback".
The next two photos are of Bob Downing, taken in December, 2001.
In one he is getting ready to follow the first pitch of "Dennis" and
in the second one he is preparing to lead pitch 2.
The next three photos record a visit by the Austin Climbing Club in
July of 2000. Leonard pauses to think over the start of "69", while Lynn shows
her stuff on the overhang of that climb. Rebecca waits her turn and Harriet gets it
on film.
The right photo below is of Aaron's wife, Bev, on her first day of
climbing EVER !, doing "Handy Andy"...pretty amazing. Bev climbed so hard that we
never got a picture of her in repose...maybe next time.
And next to that is a shot of Hara and her friend, Kosmas, who was racking up
for his first climbing experience.
The next two shots are Dell Bleekman and Kevin Hoyle. Dell is
getting his thoughts organized prior to leading the overhanging
first pitch moves of "Dennis".
Kevin is stretched out on "Brat". This was his first day of climbing since
he retired his shoes 25 years ago.
