SUPPORT

One of the fundamental purposes of the CBMS series is to provide high quality training for researchers at the beginnings of their careers. The request for proposals states the following.
The purpose of this format is to ensure that the participants, especially the new or recent entrants to the field (emphasis added), gain a deeper understanding of the major outstanding problems and current directions of research in the field than they would get from the typical conference where many people present on their own results.
Accordingly, the support funds available will be used principally to support graduate students and junior faculty (and every effort will be made to assure that all qualified graduate students and junior faculty will be able to attend). More senior participants are very welcome, but can expect less support. A projected schedule of fees for categories of participants appears below (see HOUSING, FOOD, FEES for a description of unsupported fees). More support (in the form of lower fees) will be given if at all possible. Final determinations on support levels will be made after the application deadline of May 1. In the case of equally qualified applicants, preference will be given to the first to apply. All quoted figures are for participants staying at the conference center.
