Tutoring Help
Office hours
Students are strongly encouraged to make use of their instructor's office hours.
No one can better advise you on how to do well in that instructor's course.
|
Tutoring room
The department maintains a tutoring room in ES 138, staffed during business hours Monday-Friday.
Students in 100 level courses have priority for this service.
|
Study groups
The Office of Academic Support Services runs study groups for Math 101, 106, 108, 111, 112 and 113. All Study Groups are facilitated by graduate students who know the course material and are interested in helping students. These groups are free. No appointment is needed to attend, and you can attend at any time during the semester and at any time during the hours the groups meet.
The schedule is available by calling their office: CC 110B, M-F, 9:00am-5:00pm, 442-5174/442-5180, or
on their web site. |
Informal study groups
Math majors hang out in ES 135 to study and talk. Group discussions are very valuable,
as verbalizing a question is often a major step toward solving it. And sharing insights is
very valuable in mathematics. More and more mathematical research tends to be joint work.
It is also valuable for students to network with each other, with graduate students, etc.
Graduate students and faculty often stop by to talk.
