Topics for Student Presentations

Date of Topic Selection: Tuesday, March 17

Presentations will take place during portions of course meetings in April. Plan your presentation to have length between 10 and 20 minutes. Be prepared to respond to questions at the end of your presentation.

The following is a list of acceptable topics.

There will be at most one student presentation in this course for a given topic.

  1. Demonstrate an item of free software:

    1. Open Office math

    2. PSGML (Emacs mode for sgml/xml)

    3. Sage under VMWare in MS-Windows

    4. TeXWorks

  2. Provide an introduction to a computer algebra system:

    1. Axiom

    2. Gap

    3. Singular

  3. Provide an introduction to a topic related to markup:

    1. DocBook

    2. jsMath

    3. TeXmacs

    4. Texinfo

    5. Context

    6. XSLT (XSL Transformations)

  4. Other?
